....

Andy was one of the most genuine and good-hearted man I've ever met. He dated my childhood governess, Carrie and used to come to our house and stay for weekends. I remember him as always being the comic America so loved as well as a man that truely adored life. He would sit with my younger brother and I at our kitchen table and play cards and enjoy "normal" life. I remember very vividly accounts out at restaraunts and he would NEVER talk in his Latka voice. If he was approached by a waitress or a fan Andy would talk in a very deep voice with a strong southern draw. The other children in the neighborhood loved Andy's visits, for he always entertained us with some new action hero or childlike stunt. Carrie moved on and went her own way shortly before Andy's death and we lost touch with her and Andy. I believe he was a very kind-hearted man and was loved most by those that had the fortune to truely know him. Carrie, wherever you are, thank you for such a wonderful gift. I will always cherish knowing such a great man. Michael Hamburger

Hey!! I'm a huge andy fan and I love him to death! I saw man on the moon and it was great! Jim carey did a great job! I really want to make an Andy shirt so if anyone has any pictures of him that would look great on a shirt please send em my way! thanks a bunch. heather
Andy Kaufman is definitely the greatest performer of all time. His thought provoking actions always kept us wanting more. Whether he has passed on or is still living, he will always remain in our hearts. Mario
Andy Kaufman was an innovative genius whose comedic brilliance is one of the most inspiring things I have ever encountered. Jesse H
I just saw the new movie, Man on the Moon, today and now I am a big fan of his. I think Andy is very funny. Andrew
After seeing the film, watching the A&E Biography, and surfing the web tonite, I can say without a doubt: Andy Kaufman is still alive. Matt Duffy
Andy Kaufman was the best comedian ever. He just didn't know it. Jordan
I loved "Man on the Moon"...a terrific tribute to a genius "Song and Dance Man"! Renee
IT WAS PLAIN AND CLEAR EVERYTHING ANDY DID WAS FOR A JOKE NOT BECAUSE IT WAS A HOBBY. EVEN HIS MEDITATING WAS FAKE. IT GOT PEOPLE TO LEAVE HIM ALONE WHILE HE PRETENDED TO DO IT. IT GOT PEOPLE OFF HIS BACK. ANDY KAUFMAN WAS A PRACTICAL JOKER, A GOOD ONE. BARRY
Wow!!!!! I saw "man on the moon" when it opened on Wednesday and I thought that Jim Carrey totally captured Andy's character perfectly. After the movie I was completly speech less. I think it was the best movie of this year, I really hope that Jim Carrey wins an Oscar for his performance! C.Fogo
I think Andy was brilliant, and liked to go against the grain. He didn't do what people wanted just to make them laugh, he did what he wanted, and relished off their reaction, whether good or bad. Eva
I think Andy Kaufman is an amazing person. He is so free spirited. I think he did what he did to get a reaction from the audiance. He didn't care what that reaction was! I think he just wanted to get people to feel something. Toscaa Kaufman
I went to Grahm Jr Collage w/Andy. We were in Mr Walsh's radio class and Dr Ericksons TV class, we did some work together and when I saw Man on the moon I was returned to my experience of Andy. I was uncomfortable in his presence becuase he was able to color soooo far outside the lines. I had never colored outside the lines at that time. I have now and I still felt discomfort while watching the movie. I think Andy was (is) a treasure and a gift. He deffinately caused me to think. Most of his classmates thought he was nuts and avoided him, including myself. I remember him coming up to me one day on Beacon st in Boston right outside my dorm and wanting to do a private Elvis impersonation, I was freaked, just didn't know what he mite do. I said 'yes' and when he turned to get into his suitcase to get his gear, I ran. That said so much more aabout me than it did about him. I was moved after seeing the movie and weather Andy is pulling another 'Andy' by appearing 'dead' or not one thing is for sure, Andy lives, he made a Huge difference and I am greatful to have known him. Alison Elliot
I alway like Andy. The first time I saw him was on SNL I was only 8yrs old. I though he wa very funny. Andy did a skit of Elvis with two women. After it was one he said" This act I did with Elvis and these two girls never happened. I didn't understand what that was about. I guess it was a rumor about Elvis that wasn't true, and Andy wanted to make that clear. I saw the Man On The Moon movie, It was ironic that it came out on a night where the moon was full and was the closest to the earth. I don't know what they cal it when that happens. I think they couldn't of found a better actor then Jim carey to play his part. Well have a Happy New Year and enjoy your cookies and milk that Andy gave you all these years. Todd Livengood
I never knew the guy while he was alive. But I can tell you that even dead, he made me laugh so hard that I almost peed in my pants. Go see The Man on the Moon. Jacques
Andy Kaufman was a genius and a very sincere person. He was full of life, laughter, and love. I will never fully understand Mr. Andy 'Troubadour' Kaufman, but I do know that much. Tenk You Veddy Much.. Sarah
i love andy i have seen man on the moon and all of his apperiances on the david letterman show and i was there to see his spectacular performance on the first ever snl show when he did mighty mouse. i think that andy is a genius and a very talented artist and i dont think his treament by some fans were fair especialy when he decided to be a wrestler. matthew baldwin
I am glad that you have taken the time to talk about Andy Kauffman because many ppl did not understand him. He is a great man and I am glad that you have taken the time and make such a page on such a geat man. Joe Peteroy
i love andy. his love of absolutly messing with everyone's minds is mind blowing to me. he is one of the most talented people ever and i admire him more than any other performer or pretty much anyone, period. it makes me want to cry ever time that i think that he isn't around anymore. anyways, i've rambled enough. bye. jamey
Andy in my opinion was a genious and ahead of his time. Stephanie
Andy wasn't a comedian. Nor a wrestler, practical joker, actor or woman hater. Andy was NOT Tony Clifton. Andy Kaufman was an Entertainer. An Entertainer who became all of those things and more to engage us all emotionally like no one had before, and no one has done since. I miss him. pobox2k
Andy was taken by god because, let's face it you had to be very atune to life and all it's wonderful buttons to understand what a wonderful brat he truly was. God always takes the best young. John Smith "Really"
I believe Kaufman was a "Genious"----but he just couldn't function with common people. I think he was confused with who he was and attempted to find out through expressing himself in outrageous ways. He was one of a kind.... Dave Klein
I love Andy, I think he is very talented. It's a shame that he's dead. Or is he? Amanda
Before latly, i didn't really know much about andy. but after seeing the movie and doing some research of my own, i saw that this was no plan guy. He was what we are to afraid to be or refuse to look at that aspect of ourselves. I in no way think of andy as being crazy. His humor may not have always have been considered in the nor,but he stayed true to himself and thats more than i can say for many of these other comics out here in this world. Ashland Tate
Andy oce said that,"laughter is a band-aid for the soul" I totally agree with that comment! Andy did make us think and his performances are to show the reactions of people. A question might arise that will there be another andy...my answer is indefinitly...NO! Trevor Morris
I was born only 7 years before Andy died...And it has taken me 22 years to discover his genius. Somehow that makes me really, really sad...but at the same time, I am ecstatic that I've finally seen the light! If you are out there alive somewhere, Andy, I salute you! If not, thanks for the laughs, and most of all, for the inspiration! Becky
i never knew who the heck andy was until i saw the movie "man on the moon," but now that i think about it, he's pretty cool, funny and of corse not a comic, a son-and-dance-man. LeAnne Cartman
I am a huge fan of Andy Kaufman, and now one of your website's! Awesome job! Andy rocks! Fruitcake
I love Andy Kaufman. I recently saw Man On The Moon and although everyone was insulted by the woman's remarks i was not. And i am a woman. He is a talented man who presented a type of comedy that no one else has seen, in his honor, g-d bless him and may he for eternity rest in peace. emily
Andy Kaufman was out to make the audience entertain him. All the bizarre pranks he pulled were all designed to confuse the audience for his amusement. It has to be the most awesome gag ever pulled off, and Andy pulled it off every time, without exception. John N.
Comments on what? This site? Or on Mr. Kaufman? Well, I always said that Kaufman was a genius, but no one seemed willing to even slightly entertain that fact, until Jim Carey did this new movie. Movie was done well; WSJ article criticized it for not explaining why Andy was the way he was. Wall Street Journal missed the point entirely! In real life, there are no explanations or morals to the story, there are only perceptions. Andy knew this, and exploited this fundamental fact. Lynea Bernhard
When I saw the first SNL, I knew Andy would be a hit. He was. His characters were so creative and new that no one knew if Tony Clifton was Andy or if Andy was Tony Clifton. In any case, he was a good man and will be remembered for ever. Glen Anderson
andy kaufman was the greatest song and dance man there ever was. charlie burkett
Im tired of all these people who think andy kaufman is a COMEDIC genuis. He wasnt a comedian, in fact, he felt the title "comedian" put too much pressure on an audience. Andy Kaufman is Amazing, and he isnt a comedian. He wanted ppl to express their feelings from deep inside, whether it was sadness, laughter or being pissed off. He loved it when ppl were pissed... that was his goal...... Mike
I think its funny on how many ppl like andy kaufman and hated "man on the moon", that just shows what idiots they are.......

That movie was amazing, it never tried to explain andy, and if you notice in it, andy is Never alone, he's always with somone, because its factual.......they didnt try to make anythiing up.......

thats why its amazing. gerald

I didnt have the experrience of seeing him or even hearing him when he was alive because I just found out about him.Ii now think that he is the mmost insperrrational person Ive ever heard of.If Lynn reeallyy does exsist, I envy you, do you reeealize how lucky yoou were? Michelle
I just want to say for Andy.. I LOVE YOU... So much... Melanie Kolesar
Andy rocks! hes the best!If hes ever to read it-I LOVE YOU- ANDY!!! Samantha
What captivated me most about Andy the first time I saw him perform was the childlike magic of the 'moment' I saw in his eyes. Unscathed by societal or parental influences he allowed what so many would have loved to unleash in themselves, taunting, slapping, teasing, playing hide n' seek. Oh Andy I miss you and will never forget you! Virginia Alvarez

Andy Kaufman is one of the best performing artists of the 20th century. He perfected the artistry of making jokes and making people laugh through humour that surpassed any other. jaclyn
